Ballade
2022

At a time when music has never been more accessible, regardless of place, how can an interactive and evolving album be composed—one that responds to its environment?
As an ode to wandering through Lausanne, listeners discover a polyphonic orchestra by moving through the city’s key locations. The smartphone becomes a compositional tool, where multiple sound layers are revealed through walking, freeing music from a fixed duration and instead anchoring it to the rhythm of spatial exploration.

Through geolocation, the listener-as-composer activates new musical tracks as they progress. A more organic mode of listening emerges, in which compass orientation and binaural sound uncover the abstract, digital matter that quietly surrounds us.
